Abstract

Background: Hyperuricemia is the result of purine metabolism in the body, which should be in normal conditions the acid will be dissolved in the blood but because acid levels are too high, the blood plasma will become saturated and make hyperuricemia. Factors causing hyperuricemia consist of age, gender, genetics / heredity, BMI, excess purine consumption diet.. Purpose: To determine the relationship between age, gender, BMI, genetics, diet with the high level of hyperuricemia in the elderly health center of Karangpucung village, Tambak sub-district, Banyumas district. Methods: This study is a quantitative study with a descriptive correlational design and uses a cross sectional approach. Sampling using the total sampling method, with a sample size of 70 respondents. Research instruments used observation sheets, questionnaires, stepping scales, stadiometers, and easy touch GCU. Data analysis using chi square test. Results: The results of the chi square test show (p-value <0.05) that there are factors that are significantly associated with hyperuricemia including age (0.000), gender (0.038), genetics (0.000), BMI (0.000), and diet (0.002). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the factors of age history, gender, genetics, BMI, and diet with hyperuricemia disease. Recommendation: Future researchers are expected to expand research related to other secondary factors that affect high levels of hyperuricemia and research related to various interventions that aim to help control or reduce uric acid levels in patients with hyperuricemia.
