Abstract
Background: In the family there are stages of family development, each of which has its own main developmental tasks to be achieved. In the elderly stage there are stages of development which include maintaining relationships between family generations and understanding their existence. Diseases that often appear in the elderly are cognitive decline such as dementia, this condition causes the failure of the elderly's ability to reach the stages of development that have been mentioned, thus having an impact on interpersonal relationships and family dynamics. This will risk giving rise to problems of decreasing family coping Objective: The purpose of writing this scientific paper is to describe nursing care for families in the developmental stages of elderly people with dementia using brain gym therapy. Method: The author uses a descriptive method with the instruments used to collect data are family nursing care format, MMSE observation sheet, Brain Gym technique SOP. This research will begin to be carried out from January 7 2024 to January 30 2024. Data was collected by conducting literature studies, observations, approaches, interviews, assessments and the process of creating nursing care.. Results: After carrying out nursing care and implementing non-pharmacological therapeutic measures using the Brain Gym technique for clients with dementia, the results showed that the MMSE value of each client increased significantly every day. Recommendations: It is hoped that it can contribute to the development of nursing science and technology by expanding the scope of knowledge and technology related to the problem of dementia in the elderly, as well as providing insight into how to handle it.
