Abstract
Background: Oxytocin massage is a massage performed from nerves 5-6 to the scapula to improve the parasympathetic nerves to channel orders from the back of the brain to optimally produce oxytocin. This massage effectively stimulates the release of oxytocin from the posterior pituitary gland to stabilize the uterus, clamp blood vessels, and overcome the haemostasis process, uterine contraction, and adequate uterine muscle retraction. Qualitative measurement methods cover visual estimation of blood loss based on the blood contained in the labor pads after the placenta is out and during the fourth stage of labor. Objective: To apply oxytocin massage as an evaluation of the amount of blood loss during the fourth stage of labor using the visual estimation method. Method: This qualitative study used a case study design. The application of oxytocin massage was from March to May 2024. The evaluation of the amount of blood loss used a visual estimation method. This study involved 3 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. Data on the application of oxytocin massage were recorded in the observation sheets and documentation. Results: The application of oxytocin massage to 3 respondents obtained normal results in blood loss during the fourth stage of labor. Conclusion: The application of oxytocin massage as an evaluation of the amount of blood loss in the fourth stage of labor manages to reduce the amount of blood loss.
