Abstract
Background: Maternal mortality in Indonesia is still predominantly caused by three main factors: bleeding (28%), eclampsia (24%), and infection (11%). At PMB Sri Jumiyati, there are 28 postpartum mothers, with 15 cases of second-degree perineal tears recorded from January to February. One method to expedite the healing process of perineal wounds and uterine involution is postpartum exercise. Postpartum exercises generally help heal the traumatized uterus, stomach, and pelvic muscles, and accelerate the return of these parts to their normal state. Objective: To implement postpartum exercises to accelerate perineal wound healing and reduce uterine involution in postpartum mothers. Method: The research used descriptive analytics with a case study approach by applying postpartum exercises to postpartum mothers who experienced second-degree perineal tears. Data collection techniques included sampling, interviews, literature review, and documentation. Three postpartum mothers participated in this study, and the exercises were carried out from the first postpartum day to the seventh day. Results: After seven days of postpartum exercises, the postpartum mothers achieved a score of 0 on days 5 and 6, indicating good wound healing with an evaluation frequency of 100%. Uterine involution measurements after seven days of exercises were 5.5 cm, 5.7 cm, and 5.4 cm. The normal decrease in uterine involution on day 7 is 7.5 cm, thus indicating an accelerated decrease in uterine involution of approximately 2 cm. It can be concluded that there is an acceleration in healing with an evaluation frequency of 100%. Conclusion: The application of postpartum exercises accelerates the healing of perineal wounds and reduces uterine involution in postpartum mothers.
