Abstract
Background: Duha prayer is a strong refuge in facing problems, when duha prayer the heart becomes calm and relaxed which is able to suppress the production of the hormones epinephrine and norepinephrine. If these two hormones decrease, it will cause the heart's work to decrease and blood pressure will also decrease. Objective: To determine the effect of four rak'ah duha prayers on changes in blood pressure levels in elderly people with hypertension at the Adimulyo Community Health Center. Method: This research is a quantitative research using a pre-experiment method with a one group pretest posttest design for 31 respondents suffering from hypertension at the Adimulyo Community Health Center. The statistical test used is a parametric test (paired t-test). Results: The results of the paired t-test show a p value = 0.000 where the p value < 0.05 which means Ha is accepted, which means there is an effect of Duha prayer on changes in blood pressure levels in elderly people with hypertension. Conclusion: There is an effect of duha prayer on changes in blood pressure levels in elderly people with hypertension. Recommendation: It is hoped that further research can carry out other non-pharmacological therapies/interventions besides Duha prayers, such as the effect of a balanced nutritional diet on blood pressure in hypertensive patients.
