Abstract

Background: Typhoid fever is an infectious disease caused by the Salmonella typhi bacteria, which spreads through food. Typhoid fever symptoms include fever, headache, nausea, decreased appetite, constipation, and diarrhea. Vomiting symptoms make discomfort due to inflammation of the mucous membranes in the throat, which causes pain during swallowing and leads to a loss in appetite. This causes a decrease in nutrient intake, resulting in a prolonged healing process. An intervention to accomplish this is by dental hygiene. Purpose: This research was to conduct an analysis of nutritional deficit nursing care for typhoid fever patients at the UPTD Karangkobar Community Health Center. Methods: The design of this study is a case report or case study with five respondents. Result: After providing nursing care to five patients over three sessions, the results showed that patients with a nursing diagnostic of nutritional deficit had an increase in appetite, as measured by the amount of food consumed. Recommendation: It is envisaged that nurses can provide oral hygiene measures to patients suffering from typhoid fever.
