Abstract

Introduction: Extraordinary Events (KLB) of diarrhea in Indonesia reached 18 times and the prevalence in Central Java Province reached 68.9%. Diarrhea can cause loss of electrolyte fluids in the body, dehydration, and nutritional disorders. Consuming Ambon bananas is a nonpharmacological therapy to reduce the frequency of diarrhea. Objective: To identify the consumption of Ambon bananas to reduce the frequency of diarrhea in children under five. Method: This study used a case study design. This study involved 3 participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were obtained from observations and interviews. Results: Participants received Ambon bananas for 3 consecutive days in the morning and evening. Before consuming bananas, 2 respondents had a frequency of diarrhea 3 times a day with a liquid consistency and another respondent had a frequency of diarrhea 4 times a day with the consistency. After consuming bananas, 2 respondents had a change in the frequency of diarrhea from 3 times a day to 2 times a day with a lumpy consistency and 1 respondent had a change in the frequency of diarrhea 2 times a day with a liquid consistency. Conclusion: Consuming Ambon bananas can reduce the frequency of diarrhea in children under five.
