Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a condition where blood pressure reaches 140/90 mmHg and is a disease that is often referred to as silent killer or have no complaints but can increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and other cardiovascular diseases. Research Objectives: To determine the relationship between age, gender, genetic history, obesity, smoking, physical activity, salt consumption, cholesterol, and stress and the incidence of hypertension in Lajer Village, the working area of Ambal II Community Health Center. Research Methods: This research is quantitative research with a correlational descriptive design and uses an approach cross sectional. Sampling method is used total sampling, with a sample size of 55 respondents. The research instruments used observation sheets, questionnaires, digital blood pressure meters, digital scales, stadiometer, and easy touch GCU meter device. Data analysis using tests chi square. Research Results: Test results chi square show (p-value < 0.05) then there are factors that are significantly related to hypertension, including genetic history (0.008), obesity (0.015), physical activity (0.007), salt consumption (0.001), and cholesterol (0.000). And there are factors that are not significantly related to hypertension because (p-value > 0.05) including factors such as age (0.498), gender (1.000), smoking (0.093), and stress (0.373). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between genetic history, obesity, physical activity, salt consumption and cholesterol and hypertension. And there is no significant relationship between age, gender, smoking, and stress and hypertension in Lajer Village. Recommendation: If other researchers wish to continue research, it is recommended that they conduct research with interventions on several factors that cause hypertension that can be changed, such as increasing physical activity, limiting consumption or others.
