Abstract

Background: Low birth weight (BBLR) contributes to the increase in mortality, morbidity and disability rates of neonates requiring more appropriate treatment. One of the important aspects of the mother-child bond is self-efficacy, the role of a mother is very important where she must have confidence and courage when caring for and nurturing her baby, especially with the condition of BBLR. Research Objective: To find out an overview of the self-efficacy of BBLR mothers at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Hospital. Research Method: This research was quantitative descriptive research with a survey method approach. The sampling used a consecutive sampling of 69 respondents. The research instrument used the PMP-SE (Perceived Maternal Parenting Self-Efficacy) questionnaire. Research Results: Most of the respondents aged 18-35 years were 60 people (87.0%), the education of high school/vocational school respondents was 36 people (52.2%), the multipara parity was 39 people (56.5%), the majority of BBLR babies weighed 1500-2499 grams amounting to 65 babies (94.2%), the health condition of most of the babies experienced BBLR as many as 62 babies (89.9%). The average self-efficacy score of BBLR mothers was 65.36, the median value of the mother's self-efficacy score was 65.00, the minimum score of BBLR mothers' self-efficacy was 23 and the maximum score was 78. Conclusion: From the average results of the self-efficacy score, the self-efficacy of BBLR mothers at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen Hospital is positive. Recommendation: The next researcher is expected to conduct further research related to Parenting Self-Efficacy (PMP-SE) in primipara postpartum mothers and other factors that can affect Parenting Self-Efficacy (PMP S-E).
