Abstract
Background: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are diseases caused by bacteria, fungi, viruses or parasites that appear in the genital area and are usually spread from one person to another through sexual intercourse. Common STI diseases are gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, human papilloma virus (HPV) infection, hepatitis B, and syphilis. Objective: Identifying the characteristics and level of knowledge of adolescents about sexually transmitted infections in grade 12 at SMK VIP Al Huda Kebumen. Methods: This research is quantitative research with descriptive methods, with a sample of 90 people taken using total sampling with a questionnaire instrument then the results will be processed with SPSS and then analyzed descriptively and presented in tabular form. Results: The results showed that most respondents had good knowledge as many as 75 people (83.3%). All respondents were in the middle adolescent age category (15-18 years) as many as 90 respondents (100%). Most of the respondents were female, namely 46 people (51.1%). Most respondents got information about sexually transmitted infections from the internet as many as 52 people (57.8%). Conclusion: The level of knowledge of adolescents about sexually transmitted infections in grade 12 at SMK VIP Al Huda Kebumen is in the good category as many as 75 people (83%). Recommendation: It is hoped that future researchers can conduct research in an area, for example a sub-district or city area, so that future researchers can expand research variables, such as attitudes and behavior.
