Abstract
Background: Hypertension is still a serious health problem and ranks the largest of all non-communicable diseases (NCDs). In Central Java, the prevalence of hypertension is reported to be 76.5 percent, while the second highest is Diabetes Mellitus at 10.7 percent. The impact of uncontrolled hypertension will trigger further complications such as stroke. To avoid complications that can occur in hypertension sufferers, good knowledge is needed. Low knowledge of hypertension sufferers about risk factors is the cause of patient non-compliance with treatment. Objective: To describe the level of knowledge of stroke prevention in hypertension sufferers in Tambi Village, Wonosobo. Method: This study uses a descriptive method. The sample taken was 61 hypertension sufferers with Purposive Sampling Technique. The bivariate analysis used was univariate. Results: Characteristics of hypertension sufferers in Tambi Wonosobo Village, the majority of respondents are aged 45-55 years, namely 23 people (37.7%), characteristics of respondents based on gender, most are women, namely 52 people (85.2%), have a history of elementary school education, namely 43 people (70.5%), and the majority of jobs as housewives, namely 33 people (54.1%). The level of knowledge of stroke prevention in hypertension sufferers is mostly in the good category, namely 39 people (63.9%). Conclusion: Knowledge of stroke prevention in hypertension sufferers in Tambi Wonosobo Village is good. Recommendation: Tambi Village is advised to increase education and socialization regarding the importance of early stroke prevention for hypertension sufferers.
