Abstract
Background: Preschool children (3-6 years old) are in a joyful phase and experience various stages of growth and development. Child health has a significant impact on their overall growth and development. Invasive procedures that may cause pain or not pose a threat to preschool children whose concept of body integrity has not yet developed well. The intravenous therapy procedure causes acute pain for the child. One distraction technique that can be used for children in pain management is watching animated cartoons. Objective: To determine the effect of audiovisual distraction from the film Karun on the level of pain in pre-school children when installing an IV in the emergency room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Methode: This research was pre-experimental with a post test only design with control group. The sample in this experimental research could be around 15 respondents in the emergency room of PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Sampling used random sampling technique. Bivariate analysis with independent t-test. Results: The pain level before being given the audiovisual distraction of the cartoon film was the majority on a mild scale, scale 3, 7 (46.7%) after being given the Audiovisual distraction, the majority of the cartoon film was on a moderate scale, namely scale 4, namely 4 (26.7%). There were differences in the level of pain of respondents before and after being given it. Audiovisual distraction from cartoon films. Conclusion: There is a relationship between workload and the level of work stress of nurses in the emergency room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Recommendation: For hospitals, it can be used as input in designing strategies to improve nursing care services in the ER, especially for pediatric patients
