Abstract

Background: According to the WHO, between 3.000 and 5.000 development cases in children include autism disorders. Family who care for children with autism always face various problems and burdens, both internal problems and external problems. So it requires good resilience to deal with pressure or problem from unpleasant situations. Objective: To determine the resilience of parents caring for children with autism. Method: This study is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach using an in-depth interview method to 5 (five) mother participants who care for children with autism. As well using data validity tests in the form of credibility testt, transferability tests, dependability tests, and comfirmability tests. As well data analysis using open code. Results: The results of this study were obtained 3 themes, namely aspects 3 categories, namely analyzing the source of problems when caring for children with autism, problem solving when caring for children with autism. The process of achieving acceptance of parents of chlidren with autism. The second theme in the form pf factors that affect resilience includes 3 categories, namely internal support factors, external support factors, and spiritual support factors, and the third theme is dinamycs of parents who care for children with autsm covering 2 categories, namely problems received by parents from the community, parents expectations in caring for children with autism. Conclusion: The results of this study found that the resilience of parents care for children with autism has good resilience or resilience, in participants have various challenges but with the strategies carried out to the five participants can achieve the acceptance process with additional support from internal, external and spritual. Recommendation: This study is recommended for parents who care for children with autism, it is hoped that families will continue to provide support in caring for children with autism and parents will make better use of the nearest health worker facilities.
