Abstract
Background: The prevalence of Smoking beverage consumption among teenagers is increasing. The results of a preliminary study in Argosari Village were that many teenagers smoked cigarettes and the results of interviews at MTs Muhammadiyah Argosari showed that students did not know the dangers of smoking According to the 2020 World Health Organization report, 14.2% of the world’s population is reported to be smokers who are at least 15. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of health education about the dangers of smoking in teenagers using focus group discussion, snowhall throwing and video based learning methods at MTs Muhammadiyah Argosari. Methods: This research uses a quasi-experimental method with the type of approach used is pre-text and post-test with control group design. The research sample was 81 respondents using random sampling technique. The instrument used to collect data was a 19-item knowledge questionnaire. Data analysis used the normality test, homogeneity test and anova test. Results: This research show that there is an influence of the focus group discussion method in increasing knowledge about the dangers of smoking (p=0.000), there is an influence of the Snowball Throwing Method in increasing knowledge about the dangers of smoking and there is no significant difference between the focus group discussion, snowball throwing and video based methods. Learning to increase knowledge (p=0.100). Conclusion: The focus group discussion, Snowball throwing and Video Based Learning methods are effective methods for increasing knowledge about the dangers of smoking in teenagers. Suggestions: Future researchers are expected to research health education in adolescents by comparing health education methods with other methods.
