Abstract
Background: The number of world residents aged 60years and over is expected to increase from 1.4billion in 2020to 2.1 billion in 2050 (WHO, 2022). . The problem that elderly people usually face is related to emotional development, namely a very strong feeling of wanting to gather with family members. When the elderly are not cared for and ignored by family members, the elderly will often become angry which will result in depression in the elderly. Depression is one of the most common mental illnesses in the elderly, ranking fourth in the world as a cause of disability. Objective: To describe gerontic nursing care with ineffective individual coping problems Research Method: This type of research is qualitative with a qualitative descriptive research method through a process of data collection, analysis, which is then interpreted. The respondents in this study were 3 clients with 6 days of treatment Results: The application of gardening therapy to depressed patients as an effort to reduce the geriatric depression scale was proven to be effective in reducing the geriatric depression scale 1-2on a mild to moderate scale. Conclusion: The application of gardening therapy to depressed patients as an effort to reduce the geriatric depression scale has proven to be effective in reducing the geriatric depression scale 1-2on a mild to moderate scale.
