Abstract
Background: An elderly person is someone who is over 60 years of age. One of the health problems in the elderly is a sleep pattern disorder/insomnia caused by changes in the central nervous system that affect sleep in the older person. In this case, improved sleep quality can be maximized with music therapy. Music therapy is used by the elderly to reduce the problem of sleep disorders producing a soothing effect, improving the quality of sleep, and can be applied as a pre-sleep treatment for insomnia. Objective : The purpose of writing this scientific paper is to provide a description of nursing care with the main problem of insomnia/sleep pattern disorder. Method: This author used a descriptive method, namely the author described the condition of the three respondents and used operational standards with 6 meetings. The data collection process was collected by conducting literatur studies, observation, approaches, interviews, assessments, and the process of making nursing care. Results: After nursing care and the application of non pharmacological therapeutic measures of Java music therapy there is an increase in PSQI results from before therapy to after therapy. There's been a rise from 12.6 to 5.6 for pre-therapy and 12.6 for 3.6 for post therapy. Recommendation: Java music therapy can be used to improve the quality of sleep in the elderly suffering from sleep disorders/insomnia.
