Abstract
Background : Hypertension is a condition where a person has blood pressure of more than 140/90 mmHg. The prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.11% of the adult population. The hypertensive population inpatients at Prembun Regional Hospital are 920. Patients with inpatient hypertension are generally given several combinations of drugs to achieve blood reduction targets. So this allows drug interactions to occur. Purpouse : This study aims to identify potential drug interactions that occur in the treatment of hypertension in inpatients at Prembun Regional Hospital. Method: This study is a non-experimental study using retrospective data, namely with patient medical records. The data collection technique uses purposive sampling technique by looking at the inclusion criteria. Research Results : Of the 278 respondents, 165 respondents (59.35%) had potential drug interactions, while 113 respondents (40.65%) had no potential drug interactions. The severity level was major as many as 53 respondents (8.31%), moderate as many as 489 (76.77%) and minor as many as 97 respondents (15.25%). For the level of drug interaction mechanisms from pharmacodynamic mechanisms as many as 601 (95.40%) and pharmacokinetics as many as 36 (5.71%). Conclusion: There is a potential for drug interactions in hypertensive patients hospitalized at Prembun Regional Hospital with an overall presentation of 59.25%. Recommendation : Future research is expected to examine the clinical effects of drug interactions
