Abstract

Background: The duration of hospitalization for patients with chronic kidney disease is influenced by various risk factors. Understanding these risk factors is crucial for minimizing hospital stay duration and reducing hospital costs. Objective: This study aims to identify the risk factors that predict the length of hospital stay in patients with chronic kidney disease at Permata Medika Hospital, Kebumen. Methods: The study employed a descriptive-correlational method, with retrospective data collection from the medical records of 100 chronic kidney disease patients who met the inclusion criteria at Permata Medika Hospital in 2023. Results: Hemoglobin was identified as the most significant risk factor associated with the length of hospital stay (p=0.000, OR=22.647 (4.586-111.849)). Other significant factors included urea (p=0.002, OR=19.364 (2.210-169.652)), GFR (p=0.006, OR=11.118 (1.418-87.195)), creatinine (p=0.006, OR=11.118 (1.418-87.195)), albumin (p=0.203, OR=1.769 (0.732-4.279)), blood pressure (p=0.460, OR=1.833 (0.476-7.082)), leukocytes (p=0.175, OR=1.846 (0.756-4.509)), LDL (p=0.050, OR=5.833 (1.004-33.891)), HDL (p=0.054, OR=0.414 (0.167-1.027)), triglycerides (p=0.342, OR=2.344 (0.485-11.325)), SGPT (p=0.188, OR=2.381 (0.363-8.914)), SGOT (p=0.261, OR=1.689)), comorbidities (p=0.018, OR=3.818 (1.197-12.176)), and medication (p=0.027, OR=4.636 (1.198-17.945)). Conclusion: Significant risk factors that increased the length of hospital stay and were associated with prolonged hospitalization include urea levels, LDL levels, GFR, chronic disease data, and medication data. Recommendations: Further research is needed to explore other risk factors that may contribute to prolonged hospital stays.
