Abstract
Background : The prevalence of TB sufferers in 2021 is approximately 10.6 million cases. The stigma and discrimination given by society to TB sufferers who have self-stigma lead to negative thoughts and feelings of anxiety. Negative self-stigma that is not overcome can give rise to chronic low self-esteem. One intervention that can be carried out is the positive affirmation technique which aims to shift the sufferer's way of explaining and seeing things to positive thinking when the sufferer experiences chronic low self-esteem, so that self-esteem increases further. General purpose : Analyzing nursing care for TB patients who experience chronic low self-esteem through generalist therapy and positive affirmation therapy. Methods : This research uses a case study method. The number of samples taken was 5 people. Self-esteem was assessed using the Rosenberg self-esteem scale before and after the intervention. Nursing care results : The main nursing problem is chronic low self-esteem. Intervention: Reduction of chronic low self-esteem with positive affirmation therapy. The intervention is carried out according to operational standards with a duration of 5 – 10 minutes over a period of 5 consecutive days before going to bed and waking up. The evaluation results of the five patients showed that self-esteem increased. Reecommendation : The results of the innovation of providing a combination of generalist therapy and positive affirmation therapy for chronic low self-esteem show that there is an increase in self-esteem experienced by TB sufferers.
