Abstract
Background : Diabetes is one of the diseases that can cause changes in the patient's body condition. This disorder causes sadness, self-blame, fear and feeling less than ideal because of the conditions on him. Psychosocial problems that occur in people with Diabetes Mellitus tend to make them view themselves negatively, feel hopeless, and do not accept their circumstances so that they have an impact on their self-esteem. One nursing action that can overcome these problems is positive affirmation therapy with reinforcement for individuals with positive thoughts. General Objective : Describe situational low self-esteem nursing care by providing positive affirmation audiovisual actions in Diabetes Mellitus patients.. Methods : This research design uses a case study approach method. The research subjects were 5 patients suffering from diabetes mellitus. The research instruments were psychosocial nursing care format, Rosenberg self-esteem observation sheet, HDRS signs and symptoms observation sheet, ability observation sheet, SOP for the application of positive affirmation audiovisual actions. The nursing care process is provided for 5 days of care by applying positive affirmation audiovisual actions 4 times for 15-30 minutes. Nursing Care Results : The evaluation results showed that patient III experienced the most significant increase in self-esteem with an increase of 21 scores (high self-esteem). Patients I and II experienced the most significant decrease in HDRS signs and symptoms with a decrease of 9 scores with the remaining symptoms of feeling useless, feeling incapable, depending on others. All patients I-V were able to perform positive affirmation audiovisual actions Recommendation : It can be recommended to improve situational low self-esteem in patients with diabetes mellitus using audiovisual actions of positive affirmations.
