Abstract
Background: Self Esteem is a person's belief in having the ability to behave in accordance with their desires or expectations. High and low levels of self-esteem in adolescents are usually caused by family environmental factors, gender, physical condition and social environment. Low self-esteem can cause learning achievement to decline, difficulty socializing, tends to be quiet and keeps problems alone, and does not dare to express opinions. Usually low self-esteem is influenced by bad experiences, trauma, inappropriate parental upbringing, and bullying. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) reported that there were 42,540 cases of bullying in Asia in 2021. According to data from the P3A of the Kebumen Regency Social Service which was obtained directly, in 2023 there were 107 cases of bullying that occurred among children. To overcome the problems that arise in teenagers due to low self-esteem, appropriate treatment is needed to increase self-esteem in teenagers. Therefore, the author is interested in increasing selfesteem in teenagers by carrying out Assertive Training Techniques. Objective: Applying Assertive Training techniques to increase self-esteem in teenagers. Method: The research used a case study design. Data was obtained through observations and literature review with 5 adolescent participants who met the inclusion criteria. The instrument used was the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale or self-esteem questionnaire in the form of a checklist, which was assessed using a Likert Scale to determine scoring that ranged from very inappropriate to very appropriate. The application of Assertive Training Technique was conducted 4 times with a duration of approximately 45 minutes. Results: After applying the Assertive Training Technique to teenagers, the level of self-esteem in teenagers increased from low to high category. Conclusion: Assertive Training Techniques can increase self-esteem in adolescents.
