Abstract
Background: Low self-esteem is a psychosocial problem that is often experienced by mammary cancer patients after undergoing modified radical mastectomy. The innovative action of "self-talk" can overcome this problem by increasing the patient's self-esteem and self-concept. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze nursing care for psychosocial problems: situational low self-esteem self-concept disorders in post-modified radical mastectomy mammary cancer patients in the Chemotherapy Room at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital. Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The instruments used include nursing care formats, Nursing Kits, as well as innovative SOPs for "self-talk" actions. Results: The results of the assessment showed that 5 patients had the same main complaint of situational low self-esteem. The priority nursing diagnosis is situational low self-esteem. Nursing intervention implementing self-talk. Nursing implementation of self-talk. The evaluation showed the problem of low self-esteem was resolved. The results of the nursing evaluation for Patients I-V showed an increase in self-esteem. On average, patients experienced a decrease in symptoms of low self-esteem after self-talk by 6 scores. Conclusion: The innovation of "self-talk" can help improve the self-esteem and self- concept of mammary cancer patients after modified radical mastectomy. Recommendation: Recommendations regarding hospital management to be able to implement "self talk" procedures as part of nursing care for cancer patients.
