Abstract
Introduction, Cancer occurs due to errors in cell division, leading to abnormal cell growth that can spread to other organs (metastasis). Treatment includes surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and hormonal therapy. Chemotherapy uses drugs to destroy or slow down cancer cells, but it can also affect healthy cells, causing side effects. Anxiety is a deep and persistent feeling of fear or worry. Religiosity can reduce anxiety about death by providing meaning and a concept of life after death. Purpose, To determine the relationship between religiosity and anxiety levels in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods, This study uses a quantitative method with a descriptive correlational research design and a cross-sectional approach. Results, A total of 65 chemotherapy patients had high levels of religiosity, and 35 had moderate levels. Among these patients, 52 experienced no anxiety, 21 had mild anxiety, 17 had severe anxiety, and 10 had moderate anxiety. Conclusion, Respondents with high religiosity tend not to experience anxiety (46 respondents), while those with moderate religiosity tend to experience severe anxiety (16 respondents). The chisquare test showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant relationship between religiosity and anxiety in chemotherapy patients at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Recommendation, Hospitals are advised to provide spiritual support services for cancer patients, such as religious counseling, prayer sessions, or spiritual support programs, to help patients cope with their anxiety.
