Abstract
Bacground : Diabetes mellitus is a chronic, age-related hereditary disease when the pancreas can no longer produce insulin. In 2023, there were 422 million cases of diabetes in Indonesia worldwide, whith a significant number of those affected living in low – and middle-income countries, including Indonesia. Objective : To identify the factors that influence the incidence of diabetes mellitus among adolescents at S.M.K.N 1 Karanganyar. Methods : This quantitative study employed a correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. It utilized simple random sampling to select 80 participants. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test, and the research instrument was a questionnaire. Results : The study found significant relationship between various factors and the incidence of diabetes mellitus (D.M.) : gender (p= 0.008), age (p= 0.009), obesity (p= 0.001), family history of D.M. (p= 0.000), diet and physical activity (p= 0.011), and stress (p= 0.004) Conclusion : factors related to the incidence of diabetes mellitus among adolescents at S.M.K.N. 1 Karanganyar include gender, age, family history, diet, physical activity and stress Recommendation : in future research, they should use data colletion techniques using other methods by looking at factors that influence the incidence of diabetes mellitus in adolescents, such as gender, age, obesity, diet, physical activity, family history and stress.
