Abstract
Background: Prevalency of a pregnant mother having lower back pain during pregnancy in Indonesia reaches 60-80%. One of the ways to handle this problem is by using non-pharmacological methods. Effleurage massage is a nonpharmacological method. This is done by applying gentle pressure to the surface of the body repeatedly to reduce lower back pain. Many pregnant mothers, however, do not know much about how to handle their lower back pain by applying this method. Objective: To provide a care by applying effleurage massage, to know the scale of pain before and after the application, and also to know the effectiveness of effleurage massage. Method:This research uses analytic descriptive methods, by describing facts taken from interview and observation involving 3 participants in 14 days conducted in March-April 2017. Result: After being given effleurage massage to 3 participants for 15 minutes – 7 times, there is a change of pain on the participants. Participant 1 having a change from moderate to mild pain. Participant 2 having a change from mild to no pain. Participant 3 having a change from mild to no pain. Conclusion: Effleurage massage is effective to reduce lower back pain of trimester III pregnant mother in Yuspoeni Midwifery Clinic, Klirong, Kebumen.
