Abstract
Background: Hypertension is an increase in systole and diastole blood pressure that shows more than 140/90 mmHg for two consecutive examinations. Complication of hypertension can be prevented by controlling blood pressure. In blood pressure contro, family is the main factor that affects the health level and health behavior of family members. Family knowledge is indispensable in the process of caring for family members. The higher the level of knowledge, the better the support in blood pressure control. Objective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and family support in controlling blood pressure in hypertension patients. Methods: This study used a descriptive analytical method with a cross sectional approach. The sample of 59 respondents was determined using the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used questionnaire sheets and data analysis using the chi-square test. Results: The majority of respondents have less knowledge (47,5%). The majority of respondents have sufficient family support (44,1%). And the majority of respondents have sufficient blood pressure control (39%). There was a significant relationship between knowledge and blood pressure control with a significantly result of 0,002 p-value < 0,05 and there was also a significant relationship between family support and blood pressure control with a significantly result of 0,008 pvalue < 0,05. Conclusion: The results of this study show that there is a relationship between family knowledge and support with blood pressure control in Batursari village, Brebes regency. Recommendation: It can increase family knowledge and support for the treatment of hypertension patients.
