Abstract
Background: Most elderly people aged 60 years and over in the Banyumas Regency area suffer from hypertension. However, due to the low level of knowledge and attitudes of the elderly regarding hypertension, the elderly are less active in coming to the elderly posyandu to control their health. Research Objective: To determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of elderly people with hypertension regarding hypertension and the activity of elderly people with hypertension at the elderly posyandu in Ketanda Village, Sumpiuh District, Banyumas Regency. Research Method: This research uses a quantitative descriptive correlative design method with a cross sectional approach. Sampling used a total sampling technique with 45 elderly respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire about knowledge 15, and a questionnaire about attitudes 10. Research results: It was found that 14 elderly (31.1%) had good knowledge and were active, while 31 elderly (68.8%) had poor knowledge and were not active. In terms of attitude, 13 elderly (28.8%) had a good and active attitude towards posyandu, 4 elderly (8.8%) had a good attitude but were not active, 2 elderly (4.4%) had a fair attitude and were not active, 1 elderly (2.2%) had a poor attitude but was active, and 31 elderly (68.7%) had a poor attitude and was not active. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of hypertensive elderly about hypertension and the activeness of elderly people at the Posyandu for the Elderly in Ketanda Village, Sumpiuh District, Banyumas Regency, which is included in the less active category with a p-value of (0.00) p < 0.05. Recommendations for future researchers: Future researchers are expected to be able to research factors that increase the knowledge and attitudes of elderly people about hypertension.
