Abstract

Background: High mortality rates at RSU Permata Medika Kebumen necessitate the implementation of Early Warning System (EWS) as an early detection system to promptly identify signs of patient deterioration. However, the effectiveness of EWS is influenced by suboptimal levels of nurse knowledge and understanding, coupled with inadequate periodic training. Objective: This study aims to analyze factors influencing the implementation of EWS in the inpatient wards of RSU Permata Medika Kebumen. Methods: A correlational cross-sectional design was employed. The sample consisted of 67 nurses selected through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and EWS sheets, and analyzed using univariate (descriptive analysis) and correlational (chisquare test) methods. Results: The majority of respondents were nurses under 30 years old (74.6%) and predominantly female (52.2%). Most nurses had less than 5 years of experience (76.1%), with approximately half of them having never undergone EWS training (50.6%). The analysis showed no significant relationship between age and years of experience with EWS implementation. However, there was a significant correlation between gender, training, knowledge, and attitudes of nurses with EWS implementation at RSU Permata Medika Kebumen (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Factors such as gender, training, knowledge, and attitudes significantly influence the implementation of the Early Warning System at RSU Permata Medika Kebumen. Recommendations: Recommendations include enhancing periodic training, providing more intensive education, and continuously monitoring the implementation of EWS to improve the quality of healthcare services.
