Abstract
Background: Typhoid fever is one of the acute systemic infectious diseases, caused by the bacteria Salmonella thypi, with symptoms of fever for more than a week, chills, headache or dizziness, and there are disorders of the digestive tract that require hospitalization and receive intravenous therapy procedures that cause anxiety in children and fear and discomfort for the child. The therapy that can reduce anxiety in children is cuddling therapy. Objective: To describe nursing care for children regarding the provision of maternal embrace therapy with anxiety problems during intravenous therapy. Methode: This study uses a descriptive case study approach. The subjects of the case study studied were 5 children with nursing problems of anxiety in children with typhoid fever. The instruments used in this study were nursing care formats, nursing kits, observation sheets of signs and symptoms of anxiety and SOP for cuddling therapy. Result: The results of the assessment of 5 patients who had the same main complaint, namely in children with typhoid fever. The main nursing diagnosis is anxiety related to situational crisis. The interventions carried out were anxiety reduction (I.09314) and cuddling therapy. The implementation used was anxiety reduction (I.09314) and cuddling therapy. The results of the evaluation of the 5 patients showed a decrease in signs and symptoms of anxiety in administering intravenous therapy in children with typhoid fever with an average score before being given cuddling therapy of 2,8 to 1,9 after being given cuddling therapy. Recommendation: The results of this study can be used as a scientific reference in developing nursing science, especially for children, to carry out cuddling therapy to reduce anxiety during intravenous therapy procedures.
