Abstract

Background: The lack of job opportunities for nurses in Indonesia is one of the reasons why Indonesian nurses become nurses abroad. Many nurses find it difficult to find work in hospitals or clinics because of the intense competition with their colleagues who have the same qualifications. There are too many health workers but they are not supported by enough job vacancies and salaries are considered insufficient to make ends meet. Abroad, nurses working in developed countries earn higher salaries. Objective: The general objective of this research is to find out the work motivation of Indonesian nurses who work as health workers in Japan Method: In this research, researchers used quantitative descriptive research. The technique used in sampling was Total Sampling using the Simple Random Sampling method, the number of samples in this study was 200 people. The instrument used was the Nurse Work Motivation Questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out using bivariate analysis. Research Results: The majority of Indonesian nurses who work as health workers in Japan in this study are 26-35 years old, female, have worked for > 3 years, have a Diploma III degree, are married, work at a nursing home, and earn income. that most respondents earn IDR 10,000,000 – IDR 20,000,000 with. Most nurses have good work motivation, this is caused by interest factors. Most of it is caused by knowledge, encouragement for achievement, work opportunities and social environmental factors. Conclusion: Nurses' work motivation is influenced by interest factors, mostly caused by knowledge, drive for achievement, job opportunities and social environmental factors. Recommendation: Nurses need to increase nurses' work motivation as an effort to improve the quality of health services.
