Abstract
Background Paralysis and muscle weakness are one of the signs and symptoms that cause impaired physical mobility in stroke patients. Holding a rubber ball is a therapy with external assistance aimed at maintaining body function and preventing complications due to decreased muscle strength in the upper body. Holding a rubber ball can function to increase muscle strength, provide stimulation to the motor nerves in the hand and forwarded to the brain so that it can improve weakness in muscle tone and tendons Objective The purpose of this case study is to explain nursing care by providing rubber ball grip therapy to stroke patients with nursing problems of impaired physical mobility. Method This case study uses a case study design. The case studi included five non-hemorrhagic stroke patients. Data is collection using observation, interview, and documentation research procedures. Result The results of the case study showed an increase in muscle strength, where the majority of patients before being given rubber ball grip intervention had a muscle strength score of 2-3, after being given rubber ball grip therapy 5 patients experienced an increase in muscle strength. Recommendation Rubber ball grip therapy is effective to increase muscle strength in non-hemorrhagic stroke patients.
