Abstract
Background Acute pain is a feeling condition including sensory and emotional where a person feels a sensation due to stimulation of the nerves with mild to severe intensity for less than 3 months. Pain after fracture surgery must be treated quickly so that rehabilitation can run optimally. There are around 13 million fracture cases with a prevalence of 2.7% in the world according to WHO, in Indonesia alone there are 19,754 cases of femur fractures due to accidents. Objective To analyze medical-surgical nursing care to overcome acute pain problems using Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy in post-operative femur fracture patients. Method This final scientific work by nurses uses a descriptive case study. The case study subjects were 5 respondents after femur fracture surgery. The instrument used is the medical surgical nursing assessment format. The nursing diagnosis is acute pain. The nursing intervention is Benson relaxation with a combination of lavender aromatherapy. Implementation was carried out 3x in 3 days with a administration time of 15 minutes. Evaluation is seen from the results of the pain scale measured before the intervention is given and after the intervention is given. Results of nursing care The results of the assessment of the pain scale before being given Benson relaxation, the moderate pain scale was 100% with an average pain scale of 6. From the results of applying Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy 3 times in 3 days, there was a decrease in the pain scale of 100% to an average mild pain scale. Average pain scale 2. Conclusion The results of the analysis of Benson relaxation and lavender aromatherapy for 3 days with 3 treatments were proven to be able to reduce the level of pain in post-femoral fracture surgery patients. Recommendations Benson relaxation combined with lavender aromatherapy can be used to reduce acute pain in post-operative femur fracture patients.
