Abstract

Introduction, Breast cancer is a malignant tumor that forms in breast tissue due to abnormal cell growth. Patients frequently face anxiety and depression from the diagnosis and treatment side effects, including symptoms like uncertainty, irritability, and sleep disturbances. Spiritual mindfulness through breathing exercises can reduce this anxiety by promoting awareness and mental clarity Purpose, To determine the effect of spiritual mindfulness based on breathing exercises on the anxiety levels of breast cancer patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong Hospital Methods, This research uses a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach. Spiritual mindfulness therapy based on breathing exercises is applied to breast cancer patients to reduce anxiety. Anxiety levels are measured before and after therapy using the ZSAS questionnaire. Data is analyzed using a paired sample t-test to determine the average reduction in anxiety. Results, Before receiving the spiritual mindfulness therapy based on breathing exercises, the average anxiety score of the respondents was 59.1778 (moderate anxiety). After the therapy, the average anxiety score decreased to 39.4222 (mild anxiety), resulting in an average reduction of 19.75556. These findings indicate that spiritual mindfulness therapy based on breathing exercises has a significant effect on the anxiety levels of breast cancer pahents, with a p-value of 0.000 from the paired sample t-test. Recommendation, Hospitals should adopt a holistic approach to cancer care, addressing physical, psychological, and spiritual needs to improve patients' quality of life. Incorporating spiritual mindfulness programs, especially breathing exercises, into breast cancer rehabilitation is recommended to reduce anxiety.
