Abstract
Background: Lack of fluid during delivery process (labor) can decrease the energy in the body. This may weaken of the mother's strength. Consequently, she is unable to act. Giving young coconut water to the intranatal mothers is considered more effective than mineral water. This is because coconut water contains electrolytes, isotonics, minerals and other vitamins. These will increase the strength of the mother in order to prevent delivery stuck or long labor process. Objective: To provide delivery care by applying young coconut waters consumption for the delivery progress of primigravida mothers due to the duration of stage I active phase and the opening of respondent's cervix. Method: This study is analytical descriptive with case study approach. The writer conducted observation by giving young coconut water once in every 30 minutes as much as 100 ml during the stage I active phase. Result: After consuming young coconut water, the respondents in stage I active phase got changes in the delivery duration. The delivery duration of the first respondent is 2 hours 30 minutes, the second respondent is 2 hours, the third respondent is 2 hours 30 minutes. The cervical opening on was earlier progressed – the first respondent came with 4 cm opening at 20.30 became 10 cm at 23.30, the second respondent from opening 5 cm at 21.00 became 10 cm at 23.30 and the third respondent from opening 4 cm at 08.00 became 10 cm at 11.00 am. Conclusion: The application of young coconut water consumption can cause birth progress in the duration of labor of stage I active phase and cervical opening
