Abstract
Background: Anxiety in the third trimester of pregnancy is a common discomfort caused by feelings of fear and uncertainty, which can interfere with both the pregnancy and the labor process, potentially leading to complications such as preeclampsia. One approach to reducing this anxiety is through the application of self-hypnosis and lavender aromatherapy. Objective: To provide complementary midwifery care by using self-hypnosis and lavender aromatherapy to reduce anxiety in pregnant women during their third trimester. Method: This research employed a descriptive case study approach. The study involved 5 third-trimester pregnant women who experienced anxiety. The instrument used to measure anxiety levels was the Pregnancy Stress Rating Scale (PSRS) questionnaire. Data were collected through interviews, observations conducted 6 times over 2 weeks, literature review, and documentation. Results: Following the application of self-hypnosis and lavender aromatherapy, anxiety levels of the participants significantly decreased. The anxiety score dropped from 55 to 23 (participant I), from 46 to 16 (participant II), from 41 to 16 (participant III), from 48 to 18 (participant IV), and from 48 to 19 (participant V). Recommendation: The findings of this midwifery care study can be used as a reference for reducing anxiety in pregnant women by implementing self-hypnosis and lavender aromatherapy.
