Abstract
Background: Asthma is a heterogeneous disease, which is usually characterized by chronic narrowing and inflammation of the respiratory tract. Asthma is a disease that can occur in individuals of all ages. Objective: To explain nursing care for bronchial asthma patients with nursing problems with ineffective breathing patterns in the emergency room at Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Hospital, Purwokerto. Method: This research uses a descriptive method with a case study approach. The sample consisted of 5 bronchial asthma patients. The case study instrument uses the SOP for Active Cycle Breathing Of Technique therapy and an observation sheet before and after giving Active Cycle Breathing Of Technique therapy. Results: Results of the application carried out on 5 patients, all of whom experienced nursing problems with ineffective breathing patterns and were given Active Cycle Breathing Of Technique therapy for 10-15 minutes, after the intervention ended 15 minutes then measurements were taken using an observation sheet. Then observed before and after therapy. After applying the therapy to 5 patients, the results showed a decrease in shortness of breath or respiration rate, a decrease in the use of accessory muscles for breathing, a decrease in nostril respiration and a decrease in pursed lip respiration. Recommendation: The results of this study can be applied to patients who complain of ineffective breathing patterns to reduce shortness of breath, nostril breathing, use of accessory muscles for breathing and pursed lip breathing using non-pharmacological therapy. Conclusion: The results of implementing innovative nursing actions showed that there was a decrease in shortness of breath or respiration rate, a decrease in the use of assistive respiratory muscles, a decrease in nostril respiration and a decrease in pursed lip respiration.
