Abstract

Background: Indonesia is in 5th place (41%) of bullying cases experienced by school children. At Kaliwatukranggan Elementary School in grade 6, it was found that almost 90% of the 30 children engaged in bullying behavior with their classmates and the parenting style of the parents of grade 6 students was authoritarian. Bullying behavior is an action that hurts other people. Bullying behavior is influenced by several factors, including parenting patterns, individuals and the environment. Objective: The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between parenting patterns and bullying behavior at Kaliwatukranggang State Elementary School. Method: Quantitative design with a cross sectional approach, 50 samples taken by total sampling, research time March-July. Results: The results of this study obtained a value of 0.016 (p<0.05), which means that there is a significant relationship between parenting patterns and bullying behavior among students at SD N Kaliwatukranggang. Conclusion: The parenting style applied by parents of students at Kaliwatukranggang State Elementary School is mostly permissive parenting. The most bullying behavior carried out by students at SD Kaliwatukrangggng is moderate bullying behavior. Recommendation: Future research is expected to develop the variables of friends, social media and the population to be studied.
