Abstract
Background: Pain and anxiety are the main problems in a labor process. This can be treated by non pharmacological treatment, such as Endhorphin massage. It is a massage method done by giving light touch that was first developed by Constance Palinsky. This massage is used to manage the pain. Many pregnant mothers do not know how to handle pain during labor. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying Endhorphin massage using lavender aromatherapy oil. Objective: To apply Endhorphin massage using lavender aromatherapy oil in decreasing the level of labor pain in the stage 1 of active phase of primigravida. Method: This study is analytical descriptive with case study approach. The samples are maternal mothers who have labor pain in their first stage of active phase. The data was obtained from primary data (through interview and observation), and secondary data (literature studies and documentation). The study was conducted on 4, 5, 19 April 2017. Result: After 20 minutes intervention in every hour, the pain scale of the three participants was decreasing - at the third hour, the pain scale of the first participant was in number 2, the pain scale of the second participant was in number 2, and the pain scale of the third participant was in number 3. Conclusion: Endhorphin massage using lavender aromatherapy oil is very effective to reduce the labor pain of maternal mother in the first stage of active phase.
