Abstract
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic disease characterized by elevated blood sugar levels. To prevent diabetic ulcers, it is necessary to have foot care education, one of which is through animated video media. Objective: To determine the effect of foot care education with animated videos on the level of knowledge and motivation in people with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study is a type of quantitative research using a Pre-Experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest approach. For this study, a total sampling technique was used, sampling as many as 45 respondents. The instruments used were animated videos, knowledge questionnaires, and motivation questionnaires. Results: The results of statistical tests conducted using the Wilcoxon test showed that the value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.005). After education with animated videos, the results of the level of knowledge with a good category (68.9%) and motivation results with a high category (84.4%) were obtained. This is because animated videos make it easier for people with diabetes to understand the management of their disease, describe its impact, and motivate them to be more committed to maintaining their health. Conclusion: There is an effect of foot care education with animated videos on the level of knowledge in people with diabetes mellitus at the Karanggetas Health Center. Recommendation: Researchers can then modify the animated video and add variables such as diet, medication adherence and medication control.
