Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder caused by the pancreas' inability to produce adequate insulin. One of the complications of DM is diabetic ulcers. Efforts to reduce the incidence of diabetic ulcers include dietary compliance and wound care using modern dressing techniques. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of modern dressing and dietary compliance on the healing of diabetic ulcers in DM patients at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Methods: This quantitative study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest one group method. The sample consisted of 20 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Research instruments included a wound care SOP, a dietary compliance questionnaire, and a BWAT observation sheet. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test. Results: The study results showed that 85% of respondents were compliant with their diet, while 15% were non-compliant. After the intervention, 70% of respondents achieved the wound regeneration category, and 30% reached the tissue health category. Statistical analysis using the paired t-test revealed a p value of 0.000 (p < 0.005). Conclusion: Modern dressing and dietary compliance are effective in accelerating the healing process of diabetic ulcers in DM patients at RS PKU Muhammadiyah Gombong. Recommendations: Future research is recommended to further explore the effectiveness of modern dressing techniques and dietary compliance on diabetic ulcer healing by involving a control group.
