Abstract
Background: Smartphone addiction is an addiction or attachment to a smartphone that causes social problems. Nomophobia (no mobile phone phobia) is a disorder caused due to technological developments and the fear of not being able to communicate through smartphones. Objectives: To find out the correlation between smartphone addiction and nomophobia in nursing students of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong. Methods: This type of research is correlational with a cross sectional approach. The research instrument used a SAS-SV (Smartphone Addiction scale Short Version) and NMP-Q (Nomophobia Questionnaire). The research respondents were 213 respondents. The data were processed with SPSS-27 and analyzed by Spearmen Rank test. Results: The result of the study showed that smartphone addiction in respondents was mostly moderate with a total of 183 respondents (85,9%) and nomophobia in most respondents was moderate with a total of 159 respondents (74,6%). The result of the Spearmen Rank analysis test with (α < 0,05) obtained the result of p value < 0,001: r = 0,452, which indicates that there is a correlation between smartphone addicion and nomophobia. Conclusions: There is a significant correlation between smartphone addiction and nomophobia in nursing student of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Gombong. Recommendation: For future researchers, it is then expected to use other free variabels like extravertasi, sensation seeking, and FoMo (fear of missing out).
