Abstract
Background: Verbal violence by parents to their children is a communication behavior performed using aggressive words and speech. Verbal violence is like yelling, it is insulting, not caring about the child, demeaning child, sprucely, and mentions word that are not worth saying. Objective: This study aims to learn about the verbal violence of a parent with mental health of school-age children at MI At Tauhid Pageralang, Kemranjen District, Banyumas Regency. Methods: The research uses a categorical study of correlation design with a cross sectional approach. Sample number 119 responders with total sampling techniques. Data collection uses verbal violent questionnaires and SDQ (Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire) questionnaires, and the data is analyzed for Spearman Rank. Results: The result of research obtained on parental verbal violence correlation with child’s mental health are significant and have a positive correlation direction. Verbal violence correlation of parents with mental health (prosocial problems) p-value=0,000 (p<0,01) with a coefficient correlation of 0,524. Conclusions: A child’s verbal abuse of parents with mental health has a significant connection to each indicator has a positive and negative correlationcdirection. Recommendation: Further researcheres are expected to analyze factors related to low verbal violence with mental health.
