Abstract
Background: Labor pain increase is related to excessive anxiety because of the increasing of muscles tension. This decreases the effectiveness of uterine contraction. The pain can influence the condition of the mother and may cause stress. Stress can lead to a weakening of uterine contractions and may cause long process of labor. Drinking Warm ginger is one of the non-pharmacological methods of pain reduction. Objective: To provide maternity care of physiological maternity. The treatment is done by giving warm ginger drink in the stage 1 of active phase to reduce labor pain. Method: This study uses descriptve analytical method. The writer describes the facts obtained through assessment using questionnares, interviews, and documentation. Research was conducted on 22 April to 28 April 2017. Result: Before being given a warm ginger drink, 4 out of 5 respondents have pain scale intensity of severe pain control (score 7-9). While 1 respondent has moderate ntensity of pain scale (score 4-6). After being given a warm ginger drink, 3 out of 5 respondent have decreasing pain scale intensity (score 4-6), where as the pain scale intensity of the other 2 respondent was mild (score 1-3). Conclusion:The intensity of labor pain during the stage 1 of active phase was decreasing after being given warm ginger drink.
