Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by prolonged high blood sugar levels. According to data from the Central Java Provincial Health Office in 2022, there were 623,973 people diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus. One of the main pillars in managing diabetes is consistent diet control. However, maintaining dietary discipline often presents challenges, which can trigger stress and negatively impact disease management. Objective: To determine the stress levels of Diabetes Mellitus patients in diet control within the Buluspesantren II Community Health Center area. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive research design with a survey method. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with a total of 70 respondents aged 40-60 years who participated in the Prolanis (Chronic Disease Management Program) and elderly Posyandu (integrated health services) in the Buluspesantren II Community Health Center area. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire assessing the stress levels of Diabetes Mellitus patients in diet control. Data analysis was performed using univariate analysis. Results: The study found that 50 respondents (77.1%) were aged 51-60 years, 61 respondents (87.1%) were female, and 58 respondents (82.9%) had a primary education level (elementary to junior high school). A total of 41 respondents (58.6%) were housewives, and 45 respondents (64.3%) had been living with diabetes for 1-5 years. Regarding stress levels in diet control, 77.1% of respondents experienced moderate stress, 21.4% experienced severe stress, and 1% experienced mild stress. Conclusion: Diabetes Mellitus patients in the Buluspesantren II Community Health Center area experience moderate stress in managing their diet. Recommendation: Future research is encouraged to explore additional variables, such as the relationship between stress levels in diabetes diet control and self-management, as well as analyzing factors associated with stress levels in diabetes diet management
