Abstract

Background: According to Office of Health 2017, using umbilical clamp may hurt a newborn baby. This is because the clamp is made of hard plastic material. When it is used, it will hurt the umbilical cord and the baby. Therefore, the writer is interested in applying the usage of a umbilical ring made of rubber material hose to clamp umbilical cord of a newborn baby. Objective: To find out the application of clamping umbilical ring made of rubber material independent using hose. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The writer describes the facts from the assessment through interview, direct observation, and then being documented. Result: After clamping using a clamp made of catheter, no bleeding of the umbilical ring cord. Besides, it can clamp the cord firmly and does not hurt the baby. In addition, it is easier for the midwife in performing the umbilical cord clamping under normal circumstances Conclusion: The application of umbilical cord clamping using a clamp made of ring rubber material nahose is effective and safe to clamp the umbilical cord of a newborn baby.
