Abstract

Background: Breast engorgement (breast swelling) of postpartum mother is one of the problems of postpartum infections commonly found in Indonesia. One of the ways to reduce breast engorgement of postpartum mother is by applying cabbage leaf compress. This is effective because of the high sulphur content in the cabbage leaf that will vaporize the fluid suspended in the breast. Objective: To apply cabbage leaf compress to reduce breast engorgement of postpartum mother. Method: This study is analytical descriptive. The writer describe the facts of the asseessment. The assesment was obtained through the excavation of subjective and objective data, direct observation and documentation. Result: Participants felt the swelling changes in their breasts on the second day after compressing using cabbage leaf. The first participant got a reduction in swelling with an increase of 3 measurement scale, and the other three participants got a reduction in swelling with an increase of 2 measurement scale. Conclusion: The application of cabbage leaf compress can reduce breast engorgement of postpartum mother.
