Abstract
Background: Diarrhea is the biggest disease. If this is not immediately and accurately handled, it may lead dehydration that causes death. It is necessary to give health education about the prognosis of diarrheal disease of children. Health education is consciously planned process to create opportunities for individuals to constantly learn to improve awareness, knowledge, and skill for the sake of their health. Objective: Describing family knowledge before and after being given health education about diarrhea disease in Dr. Soedirman hospital of Kebumen. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive with case study approach. The subject is a child with diarrhea diagnosis, the mother caring for the child at home and a mother who is willing to be a respondent. Data were analyzed by quantitatif descriptive and interpretative analysis technique in the form of narration supported by quantitative analysis in the form of frequency distribution table. Result: After having health education, there is an increase of mother’s knowledge – from 39 (65%) to be 54 (90%) and in good category. Conclusion: This case study shows that there is a significant knowledge about diarrhea before and after having health education. Keyword: Diarrhea, knowledge, health education.
