Abstract
Background: Prolonged labor is labor lasting more than 24 hours in primigravida and over 18 hours in multigravida, which is one of the few causes of maternal and neonatal death. Nipple stimulation can be done to prevent old partus. Nipple stimulation is a stimulation for releasing oxytocin that causes uterine contractions and this will result in the labor progress. Therefore, the writer is interested in. Objective: To know the application of nipple stimulation on the progress of labor in stage I active phase. Method: This research is an analytical descriptive with a case study approach. The facts of the assessment were obtained through interview and direct observation involving 3 participants and conducted in April-May2017. Results: After applying nipple stimulation for 2 minutes in 6 - 9 times, the three participants had different labor progress. The progress of participant 1 and 2 was 3 hours, 4 hours of participant 3. All participants got adequate contractions, less than 2 hours cervical opening and 1/5 part in pushing down the head. Process of second stage, third stage and normal stage IV. Conclusion: Nipple stimulation is effective for inpartu mother on the labor progress in stage I active phase in Community Health Centre of Rowokele, Kebumen.
