Abstract
Background: The result of national survey (2007) shows that the SC in Indonesia was 921,000 of 4,039,000 deliveries (22.8%). Based on Basic Health Research (2010), the incidence of breastfeeding process in Indonesia is less than an hour (29.3%). The condition of post SC mother may disrupt the process of breastfeeding. This is because of the pain around the surgical wound causes the breast milk not smooth. Breast care can be a strategy to stimulate the breast milk production. Objective: To determine the effect of breast care on breast milk production of post-SC patient in dr. Soedirman hospital of Kebumen. Method: This study is an analytical descriptive. The writer describes the facts obtained from interview, direct observation, and documentation. Result: After having breast care, the breast milk production of post SC patient is more smoothly flowing out. Conclusion: The application of breast care can increase the production and expenditure of breast milk. The patient, therefore, is suggested to perform self-breast care so as to maximize her breast milk production. Keywords: Sectio caesarea, breast care, breast milk production
