Abstract

THE APPLICATION OF MASSAGE TECHNIQUES USING VCO (VIRGIN COCONUT OIL) TO PREVERENT THE OCCURRENCE OF DECUBITUS ON STROKE PATIENTS IN KENANGA WARD OF Dr. SOEDIRMAN HOSPITAL OF KEBUMEN Background: Decubitus is in anatomical structure and normal skin function caused by external pressure that occurs consecutively in the existing area protrusion of the bone. Thus it damages the existing tissue underneath. A survey in dr. Moewardi hospital of Surakata, shows that there were 38.38% of the patients suffered from a tear wound (Setiajati, 2001). Totally the injured pressure incidents in hospitals of Indonesia is 33%. Objective: Finding out the way how to prevent decubitus of stroke patients by applying massage technique using VCO. Method: This scientific paper is an analytical descriptive with a case study. The subjects were 2 stroke patients with decubitus. Data were obtained through interview, observation, physical examination, and documentation study. Result: After having massage technique using VCO, diagnosis of skin integrity disorder was resolved.
